Welcome and Opening Prayer

Opening Prayer
Lord we come, hungry for you and thirsting for the good news of your Word.  We come in person, and we come online as one body, united by your Holy Spirit.  As we enter physically, mentally, and spiritually into this place, draw us into your presence through our worship and through your generous table.  For this we seek with praise and thanksgiving, amen.

Opening Hymn — #62 All Creatures of our God and King (v. 1-4)

1. All creatures of our God and King,
Lift up your voice and with us sing,
O praise ye! Alleluia!
O brother sun with golden beam,
O sister moon with silver gleam!
O praise ye! O praise ye!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

2. O brother wind, air, clouds, and rain,
By which all creatures ye sustain,
O praise ye! Alleluia!
Thou rising morn in praise rejoice,
Ye lights of evening find a voice!
O praise ye! O praise ye!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

3. O sister water flowing clear,
Make music for thy Lord to hear,
Alleluia! Alleluia!
O brother fire who lights the night,
Providing warmth, enhancing sight,
O praise ye! O praise ye!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

4. Dear mother earth, who day by day
unfoldest blessings on our way,
Alleluia! Alleluia!
The flowers and fruits that in thee grow,
let them God’s glory also show!
O praise ye! O praise ye!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Joys and Concerns, Pastoral Prayer

Pastoral Prayer
Creating God, you formed our earthly home with your hands, and you breathed life into our being with your Spirit. We are intricately woven into you through your Spirit, and you know our brokenness while feeling our pains. Hear our cries as we lift our broken world up to you. We are shattered by wars, poverty, natural disasters, and evil at the hands of those who love themselves more than others. Be present with all who are suffering, comfort all who are mourning, and change the hearts of those who are causing your beloved world to break and tear apart.  Move in and through us with your Spirit to mend us, strengthen us and to use each one of us as your healing hands and hearts. We lift all up to you, the one who created all and loves all, amen.

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.   And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom, the power, and glory forever.  Amen.

Hymn — #98 To God Be the Glory

1. To God be the glory, great things he hath done!
So loved he the world that he gave us his Son,
who yielded his life an atonement for sin,
And opened the life gate that all may go in.

Refrain
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
let the earth hear his voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father thru Jesus the Son,
and give him the glory, great things he hath done!

2. O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
to every believer the promise of God;
the vilest offender who truly believes,
that moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

Refrain

3. Great things he hath taught us,
great things he hath done,
and great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
but purer, and higher, and greater will be
our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

Offertory Prayer (1 Chronicles 29:10-13)

Praise be to you, Lord, the God of our father Israel, from everlasting to everlasting.  Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours.  Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.  Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things.  In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all.  Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name.  Amen.

Scripture Reading — Chronicles 29:1-10, 14  (NRSV)

1   King David said to the whole assembly, “My son Solomon, whom alone God has chosen, is young and inexperienced, and the work is great; for the templea will not be for mortals but for the LORD God. 2 So I have provided for the house of my God, so far as I was able, the gold for the things of gold, the silver for the things of silver, and the bronze for the things of bronze, the iron for the things of iron, and wood for the things of wood, besides great quantities of onyx and stones for setting, antimony, colored stones, all sorts of precious stones, and marble in abundance. 3 Moreover, in addition to all that I have provided for the holy house, I have a treasure of my own of gold and silver, and because of my devotion to the house of my God I give it to the house of my God: 4 three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, for overlaying the walls of the house, 5 and for all the work to be done by artisans, gold for the things of gold and silver for the things of silver. Who then will offer willingly, consecrating themselves today to the LORD?”

6   Then the leaders of ancestral houses made their freewill offerings, as did also the leaders of the tribes, the commanders of the thousands and of the hundreds, and the officers over the king’s work. 7 They gave for the service of the house of God five thousand talents and ten thousand darics of gold, ten thousand talents of silver, eighteen thousand talents of bronze, and one hundred thousand talents of iron. 8 Whoever had precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the LORD, into the care of Jehiel the Gershonite. 9 Then the people rejoiced because these had given willingly, for with single mind they had offered freely to the LORD; King David also rejoiced greatly.

10   Then David blessed the LORD in the presence of all the assembly; David said: “Blessed are you, O LORD, the God of our ancestor Israel, forever and ever.

14   “But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to make this freewill offering? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.

Sermon – Pastor Stacy Dickson
Overflowing with Thanksgiving

Affirmation of Faith  (Apostles’ Creed)
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.  I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead.  On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and will come again to judge the living and the dead.  I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.  Amen.

Communion Blessing

Closing Hymn — #664 Sent Forth by God’s Blessing

1. Sent forth by God’s blessing,
our true faith confessing,
the people of God from this dwelling take leave.
The service is ended,
O now be extended
the fruits of our worship in all who believe.
The seed of the teaching,
receptive souls reaching,
shall blossom in action for God and for all.
God’s grace did invite us,
and love shall unite us
to work for God’s kingdom and answer the call.

2. With praise and thanksgiving
to God ever living,
the tasks of our everyday life we will face.
Our faith ever sharing,
in love ever caring,
embracing God’s children of each tribe and race.
With your grace you feed us,
with your light now lead us;
unite us as one in this life that we share.
Then may all the living
with praise and thanksgiving
give honor to Christ and that name which we bear.

Benediction

Children of God, rise from the Lord’s table with praise and thanksgiving, acknowledging the bounty of gifts that you have received from our Creator and Sustainer.  Go with the expectation that God goes before you and with you, wherever you go.  Together, as the church, we will rebuild and reestablish the Kingdom of God here on earth, as we have faith that it is in heaven. Go with strength and grace, amen.
