Welcome and Opening Prayer

God of all time and space, you initiated the relationship of love and generosity with creation at a time before and beyond all knowing. Through the Word and the Spirit, you continue in eternal love for all beings. Fill us with a deep and abiding awareness of your presence, your call, and your grace in our lives and in our world. Shape us to into the people you have made us to be – poured out in creative mercy for the sake of Jesus Christ in all creation. Amen.

Opening Hymn — #144 “This Is My Father’s World”

1. This is my Father’s world,
and to my listening ears
all nature sings, and round me rings
the music of the spheres.
This is my Father’s world:
I rest me in the thought
of rocks and trees,
of skies and seas;
his hand the wonders wrought.

2. This is my Father’s world,
the birds their carols raise,
the morning light, the lily white,
declare their maker’s praise.
This is my Father’s world:
he shines in all that’s fair;
in the rustling grass I hear him pass;
he speaks to me everywhere.

3. This is my Father’s world.
O let me ne’er forget
that though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father’s world:
why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King;
let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let the earth be glad!

Joys and Concerns, Pastoral Prayer

(In Unison)

God our Father, we give you thanks and praise for fathers young and old. We pray for young fathers, newly embracing their vocation; may they find courage and perseverance to balance work, family and faith in joy and sacrifice. We pray for our own fathers around the world whose children are lost or suffering; may they know that the God of compassion walks with them in their sorrow. We pray for men who are not fathers but still mentor and guide us with fatherly love and advice. We remember fathers, grandfather, and great grandfathers who are no longer with us but who live forever in our memory and nourish us with their love. Amen.

Hymn — #130 “God Will Take Care of You” (v. 1, 3)

1. Be not dismayed whate’er betide,
God will take care of you;
beneath his wings of love abide,
God will take care of you.

Refrain
God will take care of you,
through every day, o’er all the way;
he will take care of you,
God will take care of you.

3. All you may need he will provide,
God will take care of you;
nothing you ask will be denied,
God will take care of you.

Scripture Reading — John 14:5-10  (NRSV)

5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you know me, you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”

8 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own; but the Father who dwells in me does his works.

Response
The Word of the Lord:
Thanks be to God.

Offertory –  The Legaspi Family

Medley

People need the Lord, people need the Lord,
At the end of broken dreams, He’s the open door,
People need the Lord, people need the Lord,
When will we realize, that people need the Lord.

Share his love by telling what the Lord has done for you,
Share his love, by sharing of your faith,
And show the world that Jesus Christ is real to you,
Every moment, every day.

1. May we be a shining light to the nations,
A shining light to the people’s of the earth,
Till the whole world sees, the glory of your name,
May your pure light shine through us.

2. May we be a word of hope to the nations,
A word of hope to the people’s of the earth
Till the whole knows, there’s salvation through your name
May your mercy flow through us.

3. May we be a healing balm to the nations
A healing balm to the people’s of the earth,
Till the whole world knows, the power of your name
May your healing flow through us.

4. May we be a song of joy to the nations,
A song of praise to the people’s of the earth,
Till the whole world rings with the praises of your name,
Let your song be sung through us.

5. (all can join to sing)
May your kingdom come, to the nations,
Your will be done, in the people’s of the earth,
Till the whole knows, that… Jesus Christ is Lord,
May your kingdom come in us,… May your kingdom come in us…
May your kingdom come … in … us…!

Offertory Prayer

God of power and might, as we offer our gifts to you this morning, we remember how dependent we are on your love and mercy for every good and helpful thing in our lives. We affirm in our giving that all the money and possessions in the world cannot rescue us from the demons that torment and tug at us every day. When we’ve tried to fix things on our own, we have failed; when we put our trust in your loving power made known to us in Christ, we have found our lifeline. Dedicate these gifts and our lives, that we might not only find our way but lead others toward Jesus, our rock and our redeemer. Amen.

Closing Hymn — #521 “I Want Jesus to Walk With Me”

1. I want Jesus
to walk with me.
I want Jesus
to walk with me.
All along my
pilgrim journey,
Lord, I want Jesus
to walk with me.

2. In my trials,
Lord, walk with me.
In my trials,
Lord, walk with me.
When my heart is
almost breaking,
Lord, I want Jesus
to walk with me.

3. When I’m troubled,
Lord, walk with me.
When I’m troubled,
Lord, walk with me.
When my head is
bowed in sorrow,
Lord, I want Jesus
to walk with me.
