Welcome and Opening Prayer

Opening Prayer
This was just a cup filled with wine
this was just ordinary bread, baked for guests
until Jesus took them
took and drank from the cup,
even though it was his cup of pain,
filled with the agony of the world;
took and broke the bread –
even though his body
was too young to be broken.

This,
and these
would be ordinary lives
unless the bread, unless the wine,
is poured into them:
and the mystery of grace takes place.

Come, not because you fully understand,
but because you need to reach out
and receive the life that is offered to you.

Opening SongWe Are Hungry — Messenger

We are thirsty for more of You

2. Lord I want more of You
Holy Spirit rain down on me
Lord I need more of You
Living Breath of Life come fill me up

Bridge
We lift our holy hands up
We want to touch You
We lift our voices higher
And higher and higher to You

Scripture Reading — Mark 14:22-26 (NRSV)

22   While they were eating, he took a loaf of bread, and after blessing it he broke it, gave it to them, and said, “Take; this is my body.” 23 Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks he gave it to them, and all of them drank from it. 24 He said to them, “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many. 25 Truly I tell you, I will never again drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”

26   When they had sung the hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

Joys and Concerns — Pastoral Prayer

Pastoral Prayer

Wondrous God of infinite love and boundless compassion
Mark our hearts with the seal of your handiwork
Create within us the joy of being in your presence.
Stitch into our souls the desire to serve,
the power to heal,
and the capacity to love deeply and genuinely.
Mold us into reservoirs of hope,
that we might pour out your bountiful blessings
upon all of your people.

May this time we partake of the body and blood of Jesus
unite us in the community of saints who know your love
and proclaim your Son with fervor and grace
to a broken and hurting world.

May your healing hands be the salve
for ending hurt and violence in this world,
even as we prepare for the next.
In the holy Name of Jesus. Amen.

That You my King
Would die for me

Offering Our Gifts to the Lord
For those who are called and able, gifts and tithes can still be made through online giving, by mailing them in, and by dropping them off to the office through the secure mail slot to the left of the double door entry to the church hallway.

OffertoryLet All Things Now Living — Los Cancioneros Master Chorale Quintet

1. Let all things now living
A song of thanksgiving
To God the Creator
Triumphantly raise
Who fashioned and made us
Protected and stayed us
Who still guides us on
To the end of our days
God’s banners are o’er us
His light goes before us
A pillar of fire
Shining forth in the night
Till shadows have vanished
And darkness is banished
As forward we travel
From light into light

2. His law He enforces
The stars in their courses
The sun in His orbit obediently shine
The hills and the mountains
The rivers and fountains
The deeps of the ocean
Proclaim Him divine
We too should be voicing
Our love and rejoicing
With glad adoration
A song let us raise
Till all things now living
Unite in thanksgiving
To God in the highest
Hosanna and praise

Offertory Prayer

God of mercy and compassion, what is the offering that pleases you most? Certainly, not the token gift that makes us feel we done all that is required, but a gift that reminds us that need is all around us, and compassion and love are needed desperately and can be given extravagantly. May the gifts we give through your church help the hungry, thirsty, the imprisoned; but may our whole being be centered on seeing the opportunities to personally make your love real to a hurting world. We follow in Christ’s holy, loving way. Amen.

Closing SongThere Is None Like You — Messenger

Chorus
There is none like You
No one else can touch
My heart like You do
I could search
For all eternity long and find
There is none like You

Verse
Your mercy flows like a river wide
And healing comes from Your hands
Suffering children are safe in Your arms
There is none like You

Benediction

This is a table of new expectations

This is a table where everyone can come to receive

This is a table for those who haven’t met Jesus before

This is a table with the Lord of the harvest and catch

This is a table where the host is often in the dependent position

This is a table where we are reconciled

This is a table where there is safety and acceptance

This is a table which welcomes, invites, provides, unites

This is a table where uncomfortable things happen

This is a table that was the natural place to be

This is a table that was the place to meet people

This is a table where strength is restored

This is a table, this is our community

So rise from this table to go not alone, but with Christ and with each other. Amen.
