Encounters with God’s Love

Encounters with God’s Love

Dear Family and Friends of the First UMC of Torrance,

Happy and Blessed New Year!

In the tapestry of life, each new year is like a blank canvas awaiting the strokes of our collective efforts, dreams, and aspirations. As we stand on the threshold of 2024, let us do so with hearts full of hope and minds open to the opportunities that God has prepared for us. For the new year, I prayerfully draw a picture of the theme that will guide our journey in the coming months: ‘You Are Loved.’ In a world that often feels chaotic and uncertain, we find solace and strength in the profound truth that God’s love surrounds us always. This year, we will delve into the depth of this divine love that binds us together as a community and strengthens our individual walks with Christ
The Scriptures remind us in 1 John 4:16, “So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and anyone who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in them.” This foundational truth will be our compass as we navigate the challenges and celebrations that the new year holds.

As we embark on this journey together, let us make a commitment to grow in our faith, deepen our relationships with one another, and serve our community with love and compassion. The new year brings with it a myriad of opportunities to serve both within and beyond our church walls. Whether proactively participating in worship services, volunteering for a community outreach, or simply extending a helping hand to someone in need, each of us has a role to play in God’s grand design. As we embark on this new chapter, let’s consider how our unique gifts and talents can be used to make a positive impact on those around us.

I pray that this new year be a season of growth, transformation, and profound encounters with God’s love. Together, let us radiate the love we have received and become beacons of hope in our community. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all as we embark on this exciting journey into the new year.

With love and anticipation,

Pastor Jacob
