Dear Church,
The late, great Benjamin Franklin is quoted as saying, “a place for everything, everything in its place.” As he reminds us that there is a place for everything, this Advent we will be exploring how there is a place for everyone in the Christmas story and how there is a place for Christ in everyone’s life.
In worship we will be creating a place for the Nativity scene, remembering that there was a place for Joseph and for Mary, but also for the shepherds and for the sheep. In Sunday morning Bible study, we will look at how there is a place for peace, hope, love, and joy when we live with faith and intentionality. On December 8 we will make a place for our children to bring us our annual Christmas musical, followed by a place for the Christmas message to be heard through the power of song on December 15. Most importantly this season, just like the nativity scene, there is a place for everyone at First UMC of Torrance.
During our annual caroling to shut-ins there is a place for new voices to join in the cheer. At our Christmas Tea there is a place for friends and neighbors to sit and celebrate with us. At our Simbang Gabi and Christmas party there is a place for old timers and first timers alike. And, there is always a place for everyone as we gather to hear the story, sing the songs and light candles on Christmas Eve. Why? Because we are Christ’s church and there is a place for everyone in Christ’s church.
Come and join us throughout the season as we remember the place in heaven that was opened to each of us through Christ’s birth, life and death. Hallelujah to the new born King!
Blessings, Pastor Stacy
