Welcome to our new pastor, the Rev. Jacob SeungPil Lee!
He is eager to meet and be in ministry with us. He shares the following information.
“I have two beautiful daughters, one who just started working at Sony [Culver City], and one who just finished her sophomore year at Northwestern University. I am a cancer survivor, now living cancer free. I like fishing and hiking, and I always enjoy having coffee in the morning. I also love listening to people’s life stories! I am looking forward to meeting the wonderful families of First UMC of Torrance.”
His background: Elder in Full Connection since 2010, West Ohio Annual Conference. Pastor with over 15 years’ experience in ministry of local congregations. Experienced in creative leadership, team building, and vision-casting; and leading Bible studies. Provided pastoral leadership in church programs, activities, and worship; developed network connections with local communities for outreach and mission, pastoral visits and care.
He comes from Dayton Korean United Methodist Church in Dayton, Ohio. Prior to that he served churches in Montgomery, Alabama, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Quincy, Ohio. He worked as the Director of Korean/Asian Communications at United Methodist Communications in Nashville, Tennessee where he developed communication resources and provided training.
As a Chaplain Resident, 2004-2005, at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, Ohio he provided pastoral and spiritual support to patients, family members, and staff at the Cancer Care Center Med/Surgical Units and E.R. He served as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team in order to provide comprehensive care for the various range of patients and family members.
His education includes Methodist Theological School in Ohio – Delaware, Ohio receiving a Master of Divinity in 2004; a B.S. in Communication from Ohio University; and a B.A. in Music from Yonsei University – Seoul, Korea.
