Our annual All-Church Conference will squeeze into this season on Sunday, December 14 at 4:00pm. Come to hear the reports of our ministries, to vote and bless our leaders for the coming year, to vote on a budget to fuel our ministry and celebrate who we are as United Methodists at Torrance First.
An important item on the agenda is a vote to approve a proposal for disposition of proceeds remaining from the sale of the EI Prado parsonage after payment for the organ rebuild. Monies left from this sale are locked by church Discipline to be used for capital improvements only, so we are limited in what we can do with it. We do realize that we have aging buildings on our property that will require continual maintenance, and some major projects In the coming years. The Trustees will need income for these projects without requiring a capital campaign, and the sale of the parsonage has left them without a source of income. The Trustees, Finance Committee and Church Council are proposing a plan to Invest the majority of these funds to create enough interest to replace the income that was received from the parsonage. This would give the Trustees a steady income to cover maintenance around the property while leaving the principle intact and long term for the church.
Sessions will be available before the Charge Conference to hear more details and to ask questions.
Blessinqs,
Pastor Stacy
