Celebrating God’s Faithfulness

Celebrating God’s Faithfulness

Dear Family and Friends of First UMC of Torrance,

November is upon us, and what a blessed month it will be! This season brings opportunities for us to come together in thanksgiving, joy, and remembrance as we honor our faith and the many ways we serve together as a community.

We begin the month with All Saints Sunday on November 3, where we will honor the saints who have gone before us, celebrating their faithful witness. This will also be a day of Staff Appreciation, acknowledging the hard work and dedication of those who serve our church behind the scenes. In the afternoon, we look forward to our Fall Festival—an exciting time for our youth and children to come together for fun and fellowship. Let’s make this day one of joy, gratitude, and shared memories!

On November 10, we will gather for Commitment Sunday, the culmination of our annual pledge drive. This year’s theme, “Joy Together,” calls us to reflect on how our collective contributions and commitments help to build a thriving, joyful church community. As we prayerfully consider our pledges, let us do so with a spirit of gratitude and hope, trusting that God will provide abundantly as we dream together for the year ahead.

As Thanksgiving approaches, we are reminded of our call to care for our neighbors. On Saturday, November 23, we will have our Outreach Lunch, serving those in need within our community. It’s a time for us to embody Christ’s love and compassion, as we give not only food but also fellowship to those who are often overlooked. I encourage everyone to get involved in whatever way you can—whether through donations, volunteering, or simply sharing a smile with those we serve.

November is a month to celebrate God’s faithfulness and the joy that comes from being united as a church family. Let us walk together in love, gratitude, and commitment, remembering that in every act of service, every moment of joy, and every shared meal, we reflect the love of Christ.

In Christ’s Joy,

Pastor Jacob
