Welcome and Opening Prayer

Opening Prayer
Mighty God,
you spoke to your people in the pillar of cloud
as they walked together in the wilderness.

Speak to us through your Word today,
that we may hear you calling us
out of the wilderness places in our lives
and into new places you have promised to show us.
In the name of Christ, we pray.  Amen.

Scripture Reading – Exodus 13:17-22; Proverbs 3:5-6 (NRSV)

17   When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was nearer; for God thought, “If the people face war, they may change their minds and return to Egypt.” 18 So God led the people by the roundabout way of the wilderness toward the Red Sea. The Israelites went up out of the land of Egypt prepared for battle. 19 And Moses took with him the bones of Joseph who had required a solemn oath of the Israelites, saying, “God will surely take notice of you, and then you must carry my bones with you from here.” 20 They set out from Succoth, and camped at Etham, on the edge of the wilderness. 21 The LORD went in front of them in a pillar of cloud by day, to lead them along the way, and in a pillar of fire by night, to give them light, so that they might travel by day and by night. 22 Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people.

5    Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
and do not rely on your own insight.
6 In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.

Joys and Concerns — Pastoral Prayer

Pastoral Prayer

God of our Lord Jesus,
the Liberating King,
Father of Glory:
I call out to You on behalf of Your people.
Give them a mind ready to receive wisdom and revelation
so they will truly know You.
Open the eyes of their hearts
and let the light of Your truth flood in.
Show them what You have promised them.
Shine Your light on the hope You are calling them to embrace.
Reveal to them the glorious riches You are preparing as their inheritance.
Let them see the full extent of Your power that is at work
in those of us who believe,
and may it be done according to Your might and power.
Amen.

Offering Our Gifts to the Lord
For those who are called and able, gifts and tithes can still be made through online giving, by mailing them in, and by dropping them off to the office through the secure mail slot to the left of the double door entry to the church hallway.

Offertory Prayer

As we offer our gifts and lives in this moment,
may we become imitators of you, Gracious God,
who holds nothing back from us,
but is generous and gracious with all that is yours.
In Jesus’ name, we pray.  Amen.
