Exciting June!

Greetings, Brothers and Sisters in Christ!

It is unbelievable that it is already June, but I could not be more excited that it is June. June is an exciting month at First UMC of Torrance. In worship we have Communion (June 3), Music Ministry Sunday (June 10), Father’s Day, with Confirmation and Graduation celebrations (June 17), and Filipino Heritage Sunday (June 24). Every Sunday will be an exciting opportunity to celebrate the people in our church and to experience God through blessings and rituals. I urge you to not miss a Sunday in June if you can avoid it; there is not a moment that you will want to miss.

Beyond Sunday mornings, it is still an exciting month. June 13-16 is Annual Conference at the University of Redlands. This is the yearly meeting of our Annual Conference, the California-Pacific Conference. Clergy and lay members from churches all around our Conference will gather for worship, celebration, reports, legislation and fellowship. Throughout the week we will honor those clergy who are retiring, those clergy who have passed away, and we will ordain new clergy.  I ask that you be in prayer for our team from TFUMC: Bill L, Wilma R, Claudia W, and Scott W.

As we end the month of June our campus bursts with energy as Vacation Bible School begins June 25 at 5:00pm. We are calling all kids, youth and young adults to become shipwrecked here at church for the week as we discover God’s love through music, stories, crafts, games, snacks and mission. Dinner is served at 5:00pm with opening worship at 5:30pm and closing worship around 7:45pm (this is a flexible time, but everything will end at 8:00pm). Adults are encouraged to join us for opening and closing worship. Also, this year we will be offering an adult Bible class from 6:00 to 7:00pm, Tuesday-Friday nights. This will be a Bible 101 class that will teach the basics of the Bible, where it comes from, how to use it, and what it’s all about. Teachers for this class will include myself, Kathie A, Bill L and Scott W. Each night’s teacher and topic will be detailed soon. Let’s make VBS a whole church family week of celebration and learning!!!

See you at church! ⎯ Pastor Stacy
