Reflecting on Easter

Dear Friends,

What a glorious Easter Sunday we shared! One bright spot among many was the children and youth activities and ministries going on. The newly named children’s chorus, Hallelujah Kid’s Choir sang “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands,” under the direction of Heidi and accompanist Carolyn. They were followed by the Emma Circle Singers who presented the anthem “Echoes of Joy,” led by Cleta and accompanied by Rachelle. These musical offerings were given during the 9:15 service. At the 11:15 service, the youth band “New Voice” led us in the victorious closing song “Lord, I Lift Your Name on High.”

Then there were egg hunts. Gwen and the Welcome Team provided eggs for hunts after the 9:15 and 11:15 services.

With regards to the youth, Tyler informed me that there were 34 youth and young adults in Sunday school that day, and attendance below the sixth grade level amounted to 13 attendees.

Other bright spots in the worship services include: the Chancel Choir anthem at 9:15, “Behold the Lamb of God” which announced the empty tomb, with the assistance of a four-person brass ensemble; the triumphant Easter hymns; soaring pipe organ pieces; and the vibrant music of the Messenger Praise Band. We are all so grateful to our music staff, Bob McCormac and Bob G, for helping us to feel the resurrection power. And, kudos to Messenger for the high spirited songs of victory and triumph at the 11:15 service.

Seeing the young people participate and lead was heartwarming and very inspiring. It was truly a blessed day! May we continue to grow in our mutual service with and to our children, youth, and young adults as we “pass the faith to the next generation.”
