Get the word out! Teach all these things. And don’t let anyone put you down because you’re young. Teach believers with your life: by word, by demeanor, by love, by faith, by integrity. Stay at your post reading Scripture, giving counsel, teaching. And that special gift of ministry you were given when the leaders of the church laid hands on you and prayed-keep that dusted off and in use. (1 Timothy 4:11-14)

What are your kids doing this summer? At Torrance First UMC, we know that your family is your priority, and it is our priority to provide your children with a fun and life-changing experience at Vacation Bible School. As you make your summer plans, please reserve July 6, 7, 8, 9 and 11. This summer, our church will host its VBS from 5:30pm to 8:00pm, Tuesday through Friday, and during the 9:45am worship hour on Sunday morning. Each evening will begin with’ a light meal for kids and parents from 5:30 to 6:00pm. We will begin “joining forces with God” as a large group at HERO HEADQUARTERS with high-energy music, activities, and challenges. Kids will be introduced to the Bible story and lesson focus. Following this group time, our heroes will be broken up into their teams as they rotate between three action-filled and Bible-based sessions. In POWER PROJECTS, kids will choose from a variety of creative and purposeful projects and crafts that will help kids remember to be heroes who take action for God. In ACTION GAMES, kids will have time to move, play, work on hero skills, and relax. All the super fun activities connect to the Bible hero story and life focus. lastly, in AMAZING BIBLE HEROES, kidsĀ will experience a Bible story in a variety of interactive ways and explore how to be heroes for God. Each evening will end back at the HERO HEADQUARTERS, where we will gather for more games, music, and encouragement to join forces with God!
Registration for HERO HEADQUARTERS will begin soon! Classes will be provided for age 4 through 5th grade, as of June 2010. Please don’t let your child miss this opportunity to learn how to further use his or her God-given abilities to point others to the goodness and love of Jesus.
Good days are ahead, Jonathan Tarman
