We've Got The Green Light!

December 8th, 2009 · Construction, Pastor Bob

Dear Friends,

To update you on where we stand in regard to the Sanctuary Renovation Project:

  • Documents have been recorded by the County of Los Angeles through North American Title Insurance. This means that escrow has been officially closed on the $900,000 loon.
  • Application for builder’s risk insurance has been submitted to Hub International.
  • The contract with the General Contractor is being finalized and will soon be signed.
  • Notification and paperwork for asbestos removal has been submitted. Also the two-week notification to the Air Quality and Management District is in process.
  • Negotiations with Southern California Edison are also in motion in regard to the power pole that is in the alley outside the northwest corner of the sanctuary.
  • Arrangements for the removal, refurbishment, and storage of pews have been made.

What does all this mean? It means that we have the green light to start in about two weeks.

I find it ironic that we are in December, where we celebrate the birth of Christ Jesus. Of course, back then when Mary was pregnant, they didn’t have all the medical advantages and advances of today. Today we have sonograms, we can schedule a hospital stay, and even set the day of delivery.

Back in biblical times, my guess is, they just waited until the baby was ready and when the water broke.

We have been waiting to start and don’t know the exact day although we are getting pretty close. May we be reminded that even though we try to control and orchestrate everything, God’s timing is often not our exact timing! But in great anticipation and excitement, we ready ourselves this advent season for new birth, new beginnings, and new life!
