Dear Friends,
There are many who are working behind the scenes of our Sanctuary Renovation Project. One that I want to mention is Bob M. As you may know, Bob is the project manager. For two weeks he and Kitty are on a cruise to Hawaii. We are so blessed to have Bob in this role, because if we didn’t have him, and his expertise and his experience, we would have to hire someone to deal with the architect, general contractor, attorney, the city, and all the other pieces of the project. We are all really leaning on him a lot.
Well this week with him being on the cruise, I have had to pick up the ball and carry it. This means talking to some of the aforementioned parties. I was really avoiding being involved on this level, because it consists of so many layers of detail, and language and lingo for which I am not very familiar. This week has really given me a greater appreciation for Bob M.
Yet, I still would rather not be on the front lines of all these matters, but logically I am the person to bring things together while Bob is on vacation.
This situation made me think of biblical characters who either avoided certain tasks that God was asking them to do, or flat out fled. Some even made up excuses like Moses, Jeremiah, Jonah. At times, God tells us or pushes us into things that we don’t want to do. Even though we avoid, flee, make excuses, or try to delegate, sometimes we have to do it.
Maybe it’s because we’re the most available person at the time and the most logical and qualified at the moment. But it could be that God is trying to have us learn new things, to be challenged, and to grow. Why? Because maybe God has a plan for us to use that same experience or knowledge later.
Who knows? God works in mysterious ways. So when you are’ asked to do something, it may be that God is trying to teach you. Even though the tendency is to avoid or flee, God’s spirit may be at work in you. That how I approach it!
