Alternative Christmas Fair
On remaining Sunday, December 6, participate in our Alternative Christmas Fair where you can purchase Christmas gifts in the names of relatives and friends and assist in mission work throughout the world. You can buy a share of a farm animal… you can buy a blanket… you can buy materials to help build a home… you can pay for shipping potatoes to hungry people… or, you can support His House or a missionary at Red Bird Mission in Kentucky. In Alternative Christmas gift giving you remember the true meaning of Christ’s birth.
Toys for Toberman
Our annual Christmas toy drive for Toberman Settlement House is being held on Sundays through. December 13. There is a “toy box” in the lobby to receive new, unwrapped toys for infants to teenagers. Gift cards would be perfect for teenagers. Toberman Settlement House is a United Methodist mission located in San Pedro. It serves many families in the neighborhood who have financial hardships. If you prefer to make a monetary donation, please make checks payable to First UMC and note “Toberman” on the memo line.
Filipino Christmas Celebration
Everyone in our church family is invited to share in this , holiday festival on Sunday, December 13, at 11:15. Our Filipino Fellowship will host this luau-style luncheon; if you wish, you may take some potluck food to share — a holiday entree, salad, vegetable dish or dessert. Due to the uncertainty of renovation dates, there will only be the lunch and gifts for the children this year. Members of the Filipino Fellowship extend a wish for a very Joyous Christmas and a Blessed New Year!
Filipino Christmas Worship and Fellowship
The Filipino Fellowship invites everyone to their annual Simbonq Gabi to be held on Friday, December 18, at 6:00pm in the Friendship Room. This is an evening of worship and fellowship. Finger food may be brought to share following worship.
Christmas eve worship
Everyone is welcome at our traditional Christmas eve family candlelight worship on Thursday, December 24, 7:00pm. The Christmas message will be shared, Christmas anthems by our choir, candle lighting, carol singing.
