Dear Friends,
As I write this article, it is now September 1. The summer is now behind us with kids going back to school, fall routines taking shape, and our church projects and programs moving forward.
The Committee on Nominations and Leadership Development will be meeting for the next couple of months in preparation for our Charge Conference, which is scheduled for Saturday, October 31 at 10:00am (the Staff-Parish Relations Committee will meet with District Superintendent Kathey Michelle Wilborn at 9:30am). As you know, the Nominating Committee meets in order to fill leadership roles for the 2010 year.
In regards to our Disciple Bible study program, Scott W. and the Disciple 2 class have begun their 32-week journey. There isn’t a Disciple 1 class being offered this year.
In terms of the Sanctuary Renovation Project, we are:
in the process of acquiring the services of an attorney to review contracts; seeking out a title company to have a title search; meeting various requirements for escrow with the Conference Loan Committee; having re-bids on the construction line items with WestCal Construction, Rister Pipe Organs, and AMT systems; and finalizing plans with the city of Torrance.
We hope to start construction in October if not sooner.
The fall season promises to be filled with many opportunities for ministry and service. We look forward with great anticipation to what lies ahead, even as the holidays are just around the corner. May God grant us all the strength and energy to keep faithful to our participation and support of these exciting upcoming months.
